Exquisite craftsmanship meets the artistry of Sozni hand embroidery on this luxurious handwoven cashmere stole. Delicate vines of flora entwined in white and sea green threads, grace the black canvas of this masterpiece.
The source of the cashmere for this Pashmina lies with the Changra goats, a breed not indigenous to Kashmir itself. The journey to acquire this prized wool takes the shepherds over the challenging terrain of the Ladakh Plateau in Northern India, where these goats call home. These remarkable animals have a protective double-layered coat – a warm underlayer to withstand the harsh mountain cold and a sturdy outer guard hair to fend off the elements. It's the soft underlayer that's meticulously combed by the shepherds by hand during the springtime, ultimately becoming the cherished material for Pashmina shawls.
